How to find unbilled time in ConnectWise Manage
Updated 2026-10-18. Written by the maker of MSP Billing Sentinel.
In ConnectWise Manage, a ticket can be closed, its time entered, and still never appear on an invoice, especially when billing happens in a separate accounting system. This guide shows how to check.
Export the data
- From ConnectWise Manage, export closed tickets for the last 90 days with ticket number, company, summary, member, closed date, billable flag, actual hours and hourly rate.
- From QuickBooks Online or Xero, export invoice lines for the same period plus 30 days, including the line description.
Match them
Match first on ticket number if your invoice lines carry it, then on company, close date and hours. Anything left over with billable hours is a candidate for unbilled work. The detailed steps are in how to reconcile PSA time entries to invoices.
What to check before you bill
- Is the work covered by the client's agreement?
- Was it already billed in a bundle or a project invoice?
- Was it deliberately written off?
- Is the billing window still reasonable for the client relationship?
Automate the comparison
Sentinel reads ConnectWise Manage ticket exports directly and compares them with QuickBooks or Xero invoice exports, producing a list of tickets that look unbilled with a dollar figure for each. The first two tickets are free to view. It is read-only and never changes anything in ConnectWise or your accounting system. Matching can be wrong; review every finding.
